TWO MATCHES IN ONE DAY
By Brian Sanderson,
I was given a lift by Bob Procter to East Bierley were MCCC were playing Yorkshire under 19 in a two day match. On the Yorkshire Cricket Board website it stated that the match would start on Wednesday so you have to be very carefully when deciding which match you go to.
As always MCCC batted first and as we arrived a wicket had fallen. There is some great views across the valley and you can see Holme Moss television mast even though it was cloudy in the morning. MCCC got off to a fast start but were pegged back by Yorkshire spinners. Today they were playing a fifty over match with the totals carried forward tomorrow when it would revert to time match.
At lunch time MCCC were 129 for 8 with nineteen overs to go. Paul Hutchison , ex Yorkshire and Middlesex player, was batting.
During lunch time we obtained the MCCC team from the scorer however we did not know the Yorkshire players as there was no list of names available which is very poor.
After lunch Hutchison and Richardson put on a nineth wicket stand of over fifty and bring the score to 188 after fifty overs.
At tea time as we left Yorkshire had scored 44 for no wicket off twelve overs. This evening as the sun was now shining I decided to go an watch Yorkshire against Worcestershire in 20/20.
Worcester won the toss and decided to bat first. At 124 for 5 after 16 overs things did not look to bad . Then they plundered 67 off 24 balls. Ross Whiteley scored 91 in 35 balls with 11 sixes. See my blog for last Friday were he scored a very quick hundred against Nottingham Seconds. So Worcester were 191 for 6 which was he same score which Durham scored and Yorkshire won. Not this time
Yorkshire were on a reasonable 60 for 2 when they lost three wickets for no runs which ended this years 20/20 campaign.Jack Leaning tried hard and scored 27 but Yorkshire finished on 117 all out.Another poor show in front of the television.
