THUNDER AND TRAFFIC JAM

By Brian Sanderson

Arriving at Trent Bridge this morning  via a new route through the City, we settled down to watch Nottingham try and bat the day out.

We sat in the stand to the stand to the right of the pavilion and had the above notice to look at.Nottingham were  lending by 72 runs .
James Taylor and Rikki Wessels  added 105 for the fourth wicket before the latter  was brilliantly caught by Joe Clark at deep point, for 55.

Then Taylor, batting with a runner due to hamstring injury, was run out when Hales , his runner, did not make his ground going for a third run at 201 for 5. Taylor not a happy camper.

during lunch time Luke Wood was present with a prize for Nottingham player for June. Also during lunch time there was a clap of thunder and some rain which delayed the start by fifteen minutes. We heard from the Umpire they could not start again until 40 minutes after the last clap of thunder. Another new law to me.

After lunch Samit Patel was  given out lbw to Ajmal Saeed and at that point you thought Worcester would get some more wickets. However they took the new ball and Read, who passed his 50 off 82 balls, played a lending role with Hutton chipping in nicely with 34.

Hutton became Jack Shanrty,s  second wicket of the innings at 327 for 7. At this stage we left Trent Bridge and three hours later we arrived at Bardsey as the A1  had a huge traffic jam in temperature up to 38 F.

Pleased to get home and find Yorkshire have won. The Nottingham must be slight favourites as Worcestershire require 311.
