SCARBOROUGH IN THE RAIN
By Brian Sanderson,
Yesterday at Scarborough Yorkshire had scored 357 for 5 with Bairstow scoring 139 and Gale was 127 not out. After a easy drive in the Morning we settled down to watch Yorkshire get maximum batting points. The weather was sunny but with a strong breeze blowing down the wicket.
Bresnan was first to go as he edged Joe Leach, above, to first slip where Ross Whiteley took a good low catch for 28 before Liam Plunkett was caught behind of Charlie Morris.
Steven Pattinson and Jack Brooks also fell to Morris as the seamer took three wickets in 13 balls but Ryan Sidebottom was able to join Gale in seeing Yorkshire past the 400 mark. Gale finished on 164 and Yorkshire total was 430.
Worcester reached 10 for 0 by lunch. After lunch Oliver was caught for 18 as he edged a Brooks delivery that Plunkett held onto at fourth slip high above his head. There was a shower was delayed play for 16 minutes. This allowed us to move in front of the pavilion away from the breeze.Once they returned Pattinson had Mitchell lbw for 14 after a long delay by the umpire.
Next to go was Clarke edging Plunkett to Jack Leaning at second slip to depart for 30.Patterson switched ends ,picking up two further wickets At this stage a early tea was taken and then the rain came again and at that point we decided to go home as it looked as the rain was in for awhile.
I think tomorrow I will go to Harrogate to Yorkshire Seconds and see if I can miss the rain this time.
