BONUS MATCH

By Brian Sanderson,

I was not going at originally to watch the above 20/20 but a friend decided to go horse racing at Thirsk rather than go out for a drink.. So I walked up to the stadium expecting  the top team in the Northern Section to win easily against a very young Yorkshire side without a overseas "star ".

The forecast early in the day said rain but none arrived while apart from one match  all other matches were rained off.I settled down to watch McCullum score some exciting runs but in 20/20 any thing can happen.

Young Fisher bowled him with a yorker which must have given him much pleasure after been involved in a loss yesterday against Warwick seconds. Warwick team included the following test players, McCullum, Ambrose.Clarke, Woakes and Patal whilst Yorkshire had Plunkett. Yorkshire took wickets during their innings with the highest partnership of 39 in a total of 145. Yorkshire best bowler was Pyrah with figures of 4-0-21-2.

Yorkshire had only four major batsmen so a opening partnership was vital but Rhodes soon out for 5. Then Jack Leaning and Alex Lees but on a excellent second wicket partnership of 104.This is the sixth best second wicket partnership for Yorkshire in 20/20

Alex Lees got out for 63. Lately he has not been in good form but this week at Scarborough he helped to win the match so he looks like he has come  back to form.

Jack Leaning is looking a excellent professional cricketer with  a score of 60 not out. He must be very close to getting a Yorkshire first team cap. Yorkshire won the match with three balls to spare. A excellent victory as a big underdog at the start of the match and without a oversea player. Do you think this will change Yorkshires thinking  for next season. I do not think so unfortunately.

Back to  league cricket tomorrow. There has now been over 1500 postings on the blog so please carry on reading the thoughts and visits of three PCW,s.
