RAIN THAT FOUR LETTER WORD

By Brian Sanderson

Cricket supporters are always looking at the forecast during summer to try and pick a dry spot.

After the last two days I decided to stick to Headingley were  it was the second day of the second team match between Yorkshire and Lancashire. As I entered the ground Headingley stadium was been altered again. This time it was a new players balcony paid for by Dickie Bird about nine months ago.

The spectators managed to get to about thirty by time the match started with Lancashire four  wickets down  and the prospect of more runs. Not to be within one hour Lancashire had been bowled out by some good bowling mainly by Josh Shaw  and Matthew Fisher for just over three hundred.

One interesting bowler for Yorkshire was Thomas Richard Craddock who was born in Huddersfield and played his cricket for Leeds Met  Glos, Northants and Essex. He is a leg spin bowler and has a best Championship figures of 7 for 61. It would seem Yorkshire are looking for a back up for Rashid.

With the help of the Second Team Annual Lancashire had a few players  I had not heard of before.

David John Lamb, born in Chorley and is a right hand bat and right arm medium fast bowler

Ashley Mark Gower , born in Bury, wicket keeper.

Toby James Lester born in Blackpool, right hand bat and left arm medium bowler.

Matthew William Parkinson, born in Bolton, right hand bat and left arm bowler.

Before Yorkshire could bat there was a thunderstorm and that was it for the rest of the day. Guess what the forecast for tomorrow is ,RAIN.
