ANOTHER TRIP TO BRADFORD

By Brian Sanderson,

Another Saturday and trips to different clubs.Starting off at Weetwood were the  Yorkshire Academy were playing Cleethorpes in the Yorkshire League .Cleethorpes won  the toss and decided to bat. However soon lost a wicket caught behind of Waite.  I was then  our trip round the clubs of Bradford. I found out when I returned home that Cleethorpes were bowled out for 186 and Academy won by 8 wickets.

The second club we visited was Thornton who now play in the Halifax League. However they were one of the original clubs of the Bradford League when it was founded in 1903. Today they were playing Copley Seconds. There is excellent views from the ground.

Moving to anther founder member  club of the Bradford League, Allerton. They are now in the Bradford Sunday Mutual League and were playing Muff Field in Group C.It is a very small ground with limited facilities.

Moving on we went to Great Horton Church ground. Today they were playing Bradford Moor in A Group of the Bradford Sunday Mutual League. It is one of a few grounds who have advertising round the ground

Moving on to see  Yorkshire LPS against Buttershaw St. Pauls Third team in the Group D of the league. The ground is in Bradford Salam Rugby Union ground. Typical of the day there was only one spectator watching the match and he was a father of Buttershaw player .We saw  five wickets fall in twenty minutes.

Next ground  we went to see was  Salam Athletic  who were playing Bradford Gymkhana who we saw last week.Another basic ground with no great views.

Moving on to see Bowling Baptist beating Great Horton Church Second team in  Group B.This ground used to be used by Manningham Mills who played in the Bradford League but were voted out two years ago.

Moving on to see  Tabs playing Yorkshire Friends in Group C. The ground is in a Catholic School and they have only been playing here for a year. The match was soon won by Tabs.

Moving on again to see Bradford Indians lose to Great Horton Methodists who had only eight men. We saw Great Horton bowler take a hat trick. The ground is on Canal Road just outside Shipley.

Moving on to our last ground  was in Northcliffe Park and is about half a mile from the road up hill which we had to walk up. Mandhata were being beaten by Halifield. There is some excellent view from the ground

Today we visited  ten grounds today and walked round  all the grounds so that was  our exercise for this weekend. Another interesting day  and would recommend cricket supporters visit these grounds with a help of a map. You will then understand more about local cricket.
