WHEN IS TEA ?

By Brian Sanderson,

On a windy Tuesday morning I set out for York again hopeing it would not be rained off like Sunday. No problem and found a sheltered spot.Today there was some scorecards as there was none yesterday. Went round the ground to sell them and a good crowd built up during the day.

After their victory yesterday  Yorkshire decided to put Worcestershire in to bat in this three day match.
Joe Clarke ,the wicket keeper opener, shown his England under 19 class by scoring 47 runs before been caught by Hodgson of Coad..He put on a second wicket stand of 73 with Whiteley bring the total to 101 for 2.However in the next twenty three overs Worcestershire finished on 153 all out.The wickets were shared by Coad, Wainman ,Fisher and Shaw. All medium pace bowlers which Yorkshire have a surplus at the moment. They were bowled out in 50 overs .

Yorkshire batters struggled against the pace attack of Cessford,Whiles,Whiteley and Harrison.Hodd and Hussain were out with the total 48.About 4.30 I asked Howard Clayton the scorer when tea would be taken . He replyed now but the umpires played a extra two overs.Even Mike Cowan, exYorkshire fast bowler, did not now when tea should be taken.

After tea Leaning and Hodgson stayed not out with Leaning scoring 50  in two and half hours. His mother walked round the boundary all this time to support her son. Today it worked. Rain is forecast tomorrow afternoon but we will see.
