WATCHING CRICKET IN JULY AT HEADINGLEY

By Brian Sanderson,

This morning I went to listen to Mark Arthur ,who is Yorshire Chief  Executive, discussing Yorkshire plans to improve Headingley. The cost at the moment is £50 million not much if you say it quickly. The first major alterations will be the Rugby Stand which was built in 1932.

Yorkshire started the day on 367 for 7 with the hope that they reach 400  and a extra bonus point. This was reached with a ball to spare and also one wicket. They had to be thankful to Sidebottom and Brooks who put on a  partnership of 46 which was the second highest partnership of the innings. Durham did not loss a wicket before lunch.

After the lunch the forecast was rain and the temperature dropped in the Rugby stand causing some people to have a warm drink and put on a woolly coat.Yorkshire had Stoneman caught by Bairstow off Bresnan.Lyth managed drop a catch which was a great contrast to two brillent catches at Edgebaston last week. Then the rain came as forecast with Durham 50 for 1 with the match heading for a draw.

We will see to-morrow in the third chapter of the match.
