PLAN B
By Brian Sanderson,
This morning after the rain last night I had decided to go watch York against Chesterfield in the ECB National Club Championship. However when arriving at the ground and there were no players and the covers on the pitch ,there had to be a change of plan.Remembering that the Bradford League Priestley Cup semi-finals were being played,I reveresed the car and headed for East Bierley. Those people who read the blog will remember I went to the same club last Saturday when they beat Pudsey St. Lawrence in the league. The photograph above shows the great view across the valley.
When I arrived Pudsey were batting with Robertshaw and Waite were batting well against the same bowling attack of last week. However this time they were scoring at easy. They brought up a stand of 190 in 39 overs with a big score due.Waite was out after scoring 106 in the 42 over. Then James Smith smashed 45 in 24 balls including 3 fours and 3 six,s.Pudsey putting up a score of 283 for 4. The other semi-final Cleckheaton were winning easily against Undercliffe.
After the excellent cricket tea it would be left to Gavin Hamilton to again score the majority of the runs. After a few balls he seemed to struggling with cramp so restricting his running.Three wickets soon fell to make them 44 for 3 with Gavin still hobbling.Even on one leg he managed to score 86 when he was out on the total of 171 in the thirty-fifth over.
After I had my tea looking at total scorer it states Pudsey won by 3 runs with Bierley with two overs to spare and one wicket to fall so there must have been an injury to a Bierley player. Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
