INTERESTING DAY AT HEADINGLEY

By Brian Sanderson,

Weather forecast was good and a chance of a good day but to-morrow looked as it would be raining. Before the start of play I had a chance to talk to  a Yorkshire member who lived in Edingbrough  and comes to all the home matches. He mention the ex Yorkshire player John Blain was coaching in his area.

The talk was of Yorkshire going for the full bowling points and see what the situation was with the weather.By lunch-time Durham were five wickets down for 116  runs due to a caught and bowl by Rashid on the last ball of the session.

At lunch-time looking at the BBC weather the forecast for to-morrow had changed and Headingley may escape the rain so a prospect of a Yorkshire victory if  Yorshire could bowl out Durham this afternoon.Rashid took three more wickets of Mustard, Coughlin and Hastings with a ball of the match.
At tea Durham were 8 wickets down wanting another 52 runs to save the follow on. Similar situation Yorkshire were in yesterday chasing the final batting point. Yorkshire achieved their target however Durham failed their target by getting bowled out for 231. Durham were trailing by 195. Rashid making his best bowling figures for four years at Headingley.
This left Durham 26 overs to survive this evening which they did with a loss of one wicket to part time spinner Adam Lyth. This will leave a interesting day to-morrow with one eye on the weather.
