WATCHING CRICKET BEHIND GLASS AGAIN

By Brian Sanderson,

This morning was sunny and the chance to meet a number of PCW at Harrogate  were Yorkshire Seconds were playing Nottingham Seconds at two 20/20 matches.Yorkshire should have been playing at this club on Tuesday but the rain stopped any chance of that happening.

Nottingham side included Billy Root who has been in great form for Leeds and Bradford University. The sun went in and another cold breeze started to blow.Yorkshire were put into bat and after six over were 51 for 2 and on target for a good score. At this time I had escaped to the lee of the Pavilion and meet my nephew from Melbourne who is on holiday. The comment from him was that it was warmer in Melbourne at this moment and it is their winter. After this comment he went to the car for another layer of clothing.By this time Gibson had scored 59 in 46 balls leaving Yorkshire on 119 for 6 in the fifteenth over.

By the end of the twenty over Yorkshire had scored 154 for 8 and the rain started to fall. This made me retreat to my car for some lunch and some warmth. With a loss of four overs Nottingham were set a target of 120 in  16 overs. By this time we had gone into the warm pavilion to watch the rest of the innings .

Billy Root scored 27 in 22 balls while his brother was playing for England at Lords and scoring runs.Pattinson was the best bowler with figures of 3-0-11-1 but Nottingham won with only four wickets down.

There was a thirty minutes lunch break which caused a great smell of curry in the pavilion. After lunch Yorkshire batted again in a new match of 20/20.This time it was Will Rhodes who scored 61 not out  in  total of 163 for 4. At this stage we decided to go home and looking on Total scorer Nottingham scored 166 for 4 so winning both matches.Billy Root scored 1 whilst his brother had scored 98 in sunshine.

Let us hope in it is warmer on Saturday when I am due to visit the East Coast again.
