HAT-TRICK OF NO BALLS IS THIS A RECORD

BOB APPLEYARD COLLECTION IN THE
YORKSHIRE MUSEUM
By Brian Sanderson,

I missed the ending of the Hampshire innings as I was at a Leeds Rugby League Heritage meeting. So arrived at the beginning of the Yorkshire innings. Lyth got struck on the back of the helmet from a fast bouncer from Fidel Edwards who looked quick this morning. However he was soon out caught by the wicket keeper off Edwards for 23. Soon after Lees was out  to Berg so at lunch Yorkshire were 71 for 2.

Talk in the afternoon of when Yorkshire would declare and favorite was five o,clock so leaving an hour to bowl.In the afternoon we were entertain by Pujara who reached 92 not out by tea. Also he was involved in a partnership with Bairstow of 130.During the afternoon Edwards bowled  three no balls for height to Leaning with one of them caught on the boundary  without no result.

At four fifty Yorkshire declared with a lead of 362. with Pujara scoring 133 not out. Jack Leaning was also not out on 43 and looks a good Championship batsman. Yorkshire had twenty one overs to bowl and were able to take four wickets for 37.

So Yorkshire victory should come tomorrow afternoon and then a chance to go to Weetwood to watch Leeds and Bradford University.
