COLD WEETWOOD AGAIN
By Brian Sanderson,
After a day off and a chance to watch Leeds and Bradford Ladies against MCC Ladies in a fifty overs match. Arriving at Weetwood with an over gone the score was 11 for no wicket. MCC were batting and one of the opening bat was Beth Mooney who is a Australian Womens,s international player. She will be attached to Wrenthorpe and play for Yorkshire Women,s Team for the summer.
She looked a excellent player however the bowling was not the best together with the fielding. She helped to put on a century stand in quick time but was run out when the bowler knocked the ball on to the wicket. All three spectators were sorry together with Beth.
One of the Leeds fielder sprained a knee and after ten minutes she was carried off the field and ambulance called and eventually taked to hospital. Beenwhile MCC scored 150 for 2 after twenty five overs in bitterly cold wind blowing across the field. Again I could not believe they had cold drinks after twenty- five overs . Tea would have been better.
Leeds fielding and bowling was poor and MCC finishing on 279 for 4 and the injured girl arrived back on crutches.By this time the cold had made it very uncomfortable and the fire at home seen a better place. Cricket watching is not a winter sport.
See what tomorrow brings.
