WORTH A VISIT TO SEE THE VIEW

By Brian Sanderson,

There are some grounds you can return to every year and Belper Meadows is one of these grounds. Today was Derbyshire Seconds playing Somerset in a one day fifty over friendly match.

The sun was shining and a chance for a cup of coffee before watching the match. We were sat on the top of the slope with the above view. Beats seeing the Headingley Pavilion.

There was a new electric  scoreboard since I last visited the ground but it was very basic with no space for the bowlers numbers This is the score Somerset managed to get against some  good bowling by Derbyshire.
Timonthy Rouse top scored with 34 and he is the brother of Harry who plays for Gloucester. The best wicket taking bowler was Matthew Critchley who we saw at Southport in the first team against Lancashire. He took today four for twenty eight with his leg spin.

Another problem during the  match was that three Somerset players had  the name ofTom Abell on  their shirts which makes it impossible to find the correct names of the players. Also one player had no name on at all.

Derbyshire batsmen soon scored the winning runs. with Scott Elston top scoring with 83 out of a total of 144 for 3 in thirty one overs. I would recommend going to the ground and just enjoy the views.
