QUICK VISITS INTO WEETWOOD
By Brian Sanderson,
On a sunny Monday morning myself and my sister called into Weetwood to see Yorkshire Seconds playing a three day natch against MCC Universities Northern Section. The Universities were batting and there was no breeze blowing across the ground. This must be the first time this season which makes a big difference to watching the cricket. There was a good crowd mainly watching from the pavilion grassy bank.
The usual talk of trips of were supporters had been watching cricket over the last few days.Been while the University were batting and there were no programs which made identifying the batsman was impossible. The coach of the Universities side was Clive Radley who had visited Wombwell Cricket Society over the winter. He did put a list of the teams on the pavilion door which helped. By lunch time University were 150 for 1 off thirty five overs. Yasser Imtiaz, above bowled a few overs before lunch.
We went home for lunch and arrived back about 2.30 with the Universities still batting. The talk of subjects covering The English Civil War to Latin as John Rix had arrived. The Universties were losing wickets but scoring a good rate.By tea time the score was 340 for 8 and people stating leaving as the cloud had arrived.
I left to take my sister to Moortown and returning James Wainman obtained a wicket and it took the new ball to get the last wicket with the score about 350. I thought the score would have been total cricket scorer but I can not find to confirm the actual score.
Yorkshire obtain the batting with Ben Ainsley, above and Mosun Hussain as Eliot Callis had injured his hand going for a catch. As I left no wickets had fallen. A good day at Weetwood but I do wish the match was on total cricket scorer website to find more information about the match.
At Cleethorpes Norfolk scored 292 so had a lead of 87.Lincolnshire are 124 for 5 so it looks like Norfolk will win tomorrow.
