By Brian Sanderson,
This afternoon I walked up to the stadium to watch Yorkshire Ladies against Nottingham Ladies in a 20/20 match. The weather was cloudy and the temperature was cold for a June afternoon. The crowd was restricted to seats in front of the Long Room but the wickets were nearer the Western Terrace.
Yorkshire batted first and soon found themselves three wickets down for very little until Katherine Brunt came into bat . She shown some great cricket shots to turn the match into Yorkshire favour.
When she was out on 82 , the scoring slowed down.
I was sat near Maddie Walsh,s family and they must have been very proud of her playing on the Headingley ground. Yorkshire reached 165 in the twenty overs.
When Yorkshire bowled Katherine Brunt took two good catches however it was the spin bowlers who took the wickets and helped to win the match. Nottingham finishing on 90 for 8. Maddie also bowled two overs from the Rugby stand end.
Well done ladies on a excellent victory and the first 20/20 of the day. The men were next on the stage also against Nottingham.
