SECOND 20/20 OF THE DAY

By Brian Sanderson,

After some dinner ,I walked up again to the Stadium to watch my first Yorkshire Viking match of the season.
I decided to seat inside after been outside this afternoon.Yorkshire batted first and we were entertained by Hodd and Maxwell. I had seen both of them last week at Scarborough with Yorkshire seconds. Hodd had been brought into the team as Bairstow had been called up by England as cover for Buttler.

As you can see the run rate was just under ten which was excellent. Hodd shown his power and cricketing shots against some reasonable  bowling.

Also with him was Glenn Maxwell who carried on his form from Thursday when he scored 97. Yorkshire finished on 209 for 4. A good total but Nottingham had some good batsmen.

However Maxwell got Lumb  caught and bowled in the first over. Nottingham then became 10 for 3 and it was up to Taylor and Patel to try and win the match. Taylor was caught on the boundary by Maxwell for 32 off James Middlebrook. It was then left to Samit Patel to entertain the large crowd which he did with some huge sixes. He finished on 90 not out and Nottingham on a score of 169 for 6.

A good victory for the second Yorkshire side against Nottingham today. The match finished with some fireworks.

Let us hope the weather keeps fine for the next few weeks and the temperature rises a few degrees.
