THIRD DAY AT SCARBOROUGH

By Brian Sanderson,

I decided to go to the third day of the Yorkshire Seconds against Derby shire Seconds.Yesterday Yorkshire scored 255 for 7 with Will Rhodes scoring 124 not out.Unfortunately Josh Shaw had to go off while batting when the ball hit his helmet. So today James Wainman took his place and bowled in the morning.

Derbyshire were batting this morning with Harry Hosein and  Greg Cork put on a partnership of 88 to bring the score to 157 for 6. It was Wainman who had Hosein caught by Hodgson  , at slip. for 57.
During the Derbyshire second innings Hodd took over the wicket keeping from Hodgson as Yorkshire Seconds have two excellent  keepers. There were not many spectators.

By lunch time Derbyshire had reached 218 for 8 and Yorkshire had just taken the second new ball. Also at lunch time I had to move my car as there time restrictions for parking around the ground. The weather was cold and there was a strong breeze blowing down the ground. There very few spectators.A few balls later after lunch Derbyshire were all out for 222. The top wicket taker was Ashraf with figures of 19-5-36-4. Derbyshire had a lend of 195.

Yorkshire opened with Lyth and Lees but after two balls Lyth was out caught and bowled White who looked quick. So no more batting practice for Adam Maxwell came into bat.A interesting choice as he has looked out of touch in the last few matches.

Maxwell and Lees started to take the Derbyshire bowling apart. They put on a partnership of 180 with Maxwell hitting  97 before he was bowled by Davis. Crictchley bowled two overs for thirty-two with Maxwell enjoying his bowling , helping him  to try to come back to some  batting form.

Lees and Rhodes  helped Yorkshire win by eight wickets. Lees reaching 78 not out with two sixes and eleven fours.I hope  he carries on this form to the county match next week.
