By Brian Sanderson,
After picking up Bob Procter ,we traveled up the M1 and A19 to arrive at Marske were Yorkshire Seconds were playing Derbyshire Seconds in a fifty over match. The scorecard showed the start at 12.00PM however it started at 11 AM.
The weather was sunny and Yorkshire decided to bat with Tattersall and Gibson. They started quickly and were 54 for 2 in the seventh over so a large scored looked on the cards. However at the end of the eighteenth over Yorkshire were 95 for 5
.
While the batsmen were in the middle the rest of the team enjoyed the sunshine in easy chairs.Rhodes and Waite put on Yorkshire only fifty partnership before Rhodes was caught by David Wainwright ,ex Yorkshire left arm spinner.
Wainwright bowled his eight overs for thirty runs and took the wicket of the Yorkshire top scorer Matthew Waite with 50 runs.Yorkshire reached the total of 199 .The total did not look good enough and that was in only 45.2 overs and they had two run outs did not help the cause.
So it was up to the Yorkshire bowler to take the wickets quickly after the usual huddle .
James Wainman tried hard bowling his ten overs for thirty-nine runs and taking three wickets. However none of the others could create enough pressure for wickets to fall.
Harry Hosein, the young Derbyshire wicket-keeper,held the innings together in the middle of the innings by scoring 41 before he was bowled by Rhodes
.
It was then left to Cork and Critchley to put on a partnership of 79 to win the match by four wickets and still four overs to spare.Tomorrow both sides play a three day match at Scarborough. Yorkshire are planning to include some first team players as there next first-class match is not till next Monday.
