SCARBOROUGH
By Brian Sanderson,
Sun was shining as Bob and myself set off for Scarborough for the first day of three between Yorkshire Seconds and Derbyshire Seconds.
We sat in the shade of the pavilion to watch Derbyshire bat.Yorkshire had a strong side including Lyth, Lees ,Maxwell and Sidebottom, see above.
My lunchtime Derbyshire had lost four wickets for ninety. Sidebottom had taken two wickets and look fully fit after his calf injury at Worcester.
After lunch Derbyshire batsmen shown they here to put up a fight .Bramwell ,above, was top scorer with 44.
During the afternoon Sidebottom at one stage had five slips and he finished with figures of 12-4-30-3.
By teatime Derbyshire were all out for 228 in 72.4 overs which was good as one stage they were 113 for 5.
David Wainwright finished on 34 not out and looked in no problems against the Yorkshire bowling. During the afternoon it came very cold and it called for extra layer of clothing.
After tea we settled down to watch the Yorkshire first team opening pair but by the time we left both of them were out so they were deprived of much needed batting practice.
