WORTH THE VISIT

By Brian Sanderson,

I traveled down on Sunday morning with  my Sheffield correspondence and booked into the hotel next to the ground. Walked round to the pavilion  and saw Tony Hutton. There was a cold wind blowing so stopped  outside  the pavilion protected a bit from the wind. The view is a great and shown by the above photograph.

We also met our friend from London who was sitting on the opposite of the ground. As neither of us have mobile phones it took us a while to meet.Tony give the description of the first day so Yorkshire I will move on to the second day.

The weather was warmer and the wind had dropped  with Worcester still batting with Andrew and the over sea star Senanyake. We watched the day,s play opposite the new pavilion and after an hour started batting.
A   mention has to made of Jack Brooks  5 wickets for 56. Yorkshire were batting.Soon Yorkshire were in problems with losing two wicket.

After Lunch the sun hats were out and watching Alex Lees batting with easy.I think this young man will have an excellent career with Yorkshire and England. The Yorkshire innings seem to follow the same way as Worcester innings. After Yorkshire were five wickets down for 172  at the same stage Worcester were 171 for 5.Lees was just out before tea for 87  and felt sorry he did not reach his century.

The major incident after tea was Sidebottom injury which forced him off the field but to return late in the day to help Bresnan take Yorkshire to another bonus point. In the evening we went to a bar in Molvern with excellent views down towards Worcester.

Talk a breakfast was that the match was  even but we were due to leave after the days play so we thought we would see the end of the match. This was not the case with Yorkshire blowing away Worcester batting by just after lunch. On the third day we watched the match behind the bowlers arm facing the Worcester offices. Not a pretty site but excellent to see what is happening with the ball. There was another good crowd which was boosted by a large section of Yorkshire supporters. It was great to watch Pattinson take his five wickets for 11 runs, his best Championship figures.

We were able to watch Lees and Rhodes take apart the bowling a attack to secure a ten wickets victory with just a so called weak side.A great victory and very pleased I was there to see it.  Now back to the stadium which is Headingley.
