NET PRACTICE
By Brian Sanderson,
Another beautiful day with Yorkshire batting but six wicket down. To make a match the University had to bowl Yorkshire out quickly. However this did not happen with Yorkshire batting till after lunch. There had been some good shots from Bresnan and Pyrah. It give a good crowd a chance to talk cricket and what the prospects of the local clubsthis coming season. During the morning Tony Hutton brought the 2015 Wisden which included one of his photographs of cricket at Ferrybridge Power Station. Another Hutton recorded in the bible of cricket.Yorkshire finished their innings on 293 with the help of fifty partnership by the tenth wicket.
The best University bowler was Joe Ellis-Grewal who took four wickets. I think he may be worth watching in the future. Because Yorkshire treated the match as a practice match and in the afternoon with the University on 33 for 3 at tea.An hour later they had scored another 10 runs and losing another wicket.
The cricket season has now started with great weather so let us hope the Worcester match is not curtailed by rain. The photograph below is of the oldest section of the wall which was built in 1890 and is the only part of the Yorkshire ground which has not been altered.
