LAST BALL VICTORY

By Brian Sanderson,

After a day off watching cricket and checking twitter ,I went to Weetwood. The match was a fifty over match between Leeds and Bradford University and Loughborough in the semi-final. When I arrived there was about six supporters mainly family relations.Leeds were batting on a cloudy morning with forecast of rain. Richard Robinson, the groundsman did a excellent job again to produce a hard fast wicket.

Leeds opening pair of Bullen and Andersson put on a partnership of 149.Martin Anderson was born in Reading and has played for Berkshire and Middlesex seconds. He scored 138 in 150 balls  and together with Henry Thompson put on a partnership of 117 runs. The University reached 294 for 5 but   my feeling was thirty runs short.

After the break Loughborough opened with Azad and Sehmi and put on a steady stand of 41. Robert Sehmi was born in Macclesfield and has played for Kent Seconds. Sehmi and Burgess put on another 63 runs with the treat of rain not so far away
.

However it was Lowen and White who put on the major partnership of 104 at even time.Whilst these two batsmen were at the crease Loughborough were favourites.it was Ashraf who got White l.b.w which swung the match to Leeds. It got down to the last ball of the match Loughborough wanted six to win with a new batsman in Mc Kinley and Lilley bowling. My this time Tony Hutton had arrived to see the last overs. Lilley bowled a full length ball but it only went for one and Leeds and Bradford were in the final.

The final is at Kebworth  and Leeds will play the winners of Oxford and Cardiff. Well done  the Yellows.
