FIRST DAY OF MINOR COUNTY CRICKET
By Brian Sanderson,
An early start on Sunday, I traveled down to Derby to pick up Brian Workman to start on our three day cricket tour. The first match we went to was at Tattenhall which is situated in West Cheshire and about eight miles south-east from Chester.. The match was a three day Minor County match against Wiltshire. Among the crowd was Tony and Jennifer who had also decided to watch the match.Later in the day Peter Davies turned up ,of Cricket Heritage fame.
Wiltshire won the toss and batted ,only for Ash Davis to rip through the top and middle order. Ashur Morrison made 63 and only two other batsmen reached double figures in a total of 166.Ash finished with figures of 7 for 83 which was his Cheshire career best.
Cheshire were struggling on the first day at 137 for 5. At this point we left to drive to Shrewsbury for our hotel.Next day Cheshire won by 8 wickets with Ash Davis finishing with figures of 11 for 119.
The ground has beautiful views but we struggled to find shade in the sunshine. However I would recommend P.C.W to visit the ground.
