WHAT TIME DOES IT START ?

By Brian Sanderson,

On Sunday I had a word with Richard Damms, the Yorkshire Academy coach, to confirm the Second team match at Pudsey Congs was to start at 11.00 AM.On arriving to the match there were a few empty spaces and I started to sell scorecards. The match was a fifty over match against Warwickshire Seconds who included Johanthan Trott who had been playing for England during the winter put left the tour early for health problems. The Warwickshire side had four alterations since they telephone the team to Headingley on Friday. Also it stated on the scorecard that the first interval was 1.30 meaning it was a forty over match which was also stated in the preseason pamplet. The starting time on the Pudsey website said 12.00 and also the Yorkshire pamplet also confirmed 12.00 start.

This meant so people missed the start of the Yorkshire innings. This included Peter France who I had not seen since last season so it was good to see him. Also arrived was Tony Hutton who had recovered from his operation another good face to see.

Yorkhire opened with Andrew Hodd, the wicket-keeping batsman, who Yorkshire signed from Sussex. I first saw him in 2007 were he scored 123 against Yorkshire.Today he scored another hundred against the bowling attack which included Hannon- Dalby who Warwickshire signed from Yorkshire. His bowling figures today were  10 overs 63 for 3 wickets,Another Yorkshire batsman who did well was Jonathan Tattersall, who played for England under 19 last winter. His score this match was 65  in 78 balls. Yorkshire finished on 302 for 5 in the fifty overs.
By  lunchtime there was a good crowd which pleased Ralph Middlebrook who was proud to help to put on this match at his club. After lunch Trott was soon batting and shown his class with a number of strokes. He scored 70 before he was caught by yet another Yorkshire wicket keeper Dan Hodgson of Matthew Fisher.Overall Warwick were never going to threated Yorkshire score a after 35 overs they were all out for 166.The best bowling figures were by James Wainman who took 3 wickets for 2 runs in 1.5 overs.

A good victory for Yorkshire but you wonder how long people like Hodd and Hodgson  will stop at the club. as Bairstow will be Yorkshire first  team keeper.
