The hidden agenda

Posted by John Winn

When two or three or more pcws are gathered together what Brian Senior has called 'the hidden agenda' of cricket comes to the surface exposing matches at various levels that were not common knowledge to all the group. One of the functions of this blog is, through the monthly fixture list, to publish  as many of the more obscure as possible and Brian and I are grateful to those pcws who help make this as comprehensive as possible. One set of matches that we have not so far publicised was drawn to my attention some weeks ago and a wet Saturday morning seems a good opportunity to rectify that.

I am referring to a tournament which is being held at three venues in Essex in a couple of weeks time and one where some or our readers will be present. The tournament is the ICC Europe Division 2 T20 competition with six competing nations, Belgium, Gibralter, Germany, Austria, Isle of Man and Norway. The venues are The Essex County Ground at Chelmsford, two grounds at Billericay CC and Garon Park, Southend.

The schedule is as follows

Monday Jun 23rd 10:00 Belgium v Gibralter Chelmsford
                                2:00 Germany v Austria         Ditto
6:00 Isle of Man v Norway.   Ditto

Tuesday Jun 24th   10:00 Germany v Isle of Man Billericay CC 1
                                10:00 Belgium v Norway Billericay CC 2
10:00 Austria v Gibraltar Garon Park
3:00 Belgium v Isle of Man Billericay 2
3:00 Gibralter v Germany Garon Park
                                 3:00 Austria v Norway Billericay 2

Thursday June 26th 10:00 Norway v Gibralter Billericay 2
10:00 Austria v Isle of Man Gavron Park
                                 10:00 Belgium v Germany Billericay 1
3:00 Gibralter v Isle of Man Billericay 2
3:00 Belgium v Austria Garon Park
                                 3:00 Norway v Germany

Belgium were promoted to this group as they finished winners of Division 3 at a tournament held in La Manga in April.
