ANOTHER BUSY DAY AT HEADINGLEY

By Brian Sanderson,

The day started at 9.00A.M. when Richard Griffiths very kindly brought be two k auction lots which he had purchased on my behalf two weeks ago.The consisted of league handbooks which had orginally been own by Tony Woodhouse who used to be the Yorkshire Archvist. The leagues covered are Wetherby,Yorkshire League,Quaid-E-Azam , Central Yorkshire and Airedale and Wharfedale.

The next meeting was at 10.00A.M with Chris Procter who came to look at the Kippax bat that was in the Long Room. After a trip round the stadium I could settle down to watch Yorkshire bowl against the multi-cultural Nottingham side. One of the openers was Phil Jaques ex Australia , Worcester and Yorkshire who was caught by Lyth off Bresnan . By lunchtime Nottingham had scored 84 for 4.

During lunch Chris Waters was in the Long Room to sign his new book 10 for 10 which was sold out by the end of lunch.
Michael Lumb, who was born in Johannesburg South Africa, was caught down the leg side of Bresnan.Chris Reid, ,who was born in Paignton Devon, was next out run out but there was arguement that Patterson had obstructed him but he was still given out by Martin Saggars. We were then entertained by Siddle, Australian and Fletcher who was born in Nottingham with a 65 run  ninth wicket partnership.By tea Nottingham had been bowled out in 56 overs for 205.

After tea Siddle looked a Australian Test bowler by taking the two Yorkshire wickets before rain stopped  play with Yorkshire 52 for 2. So tomorrow should be interesting with the inexperienced Leaning and the Yorkshire captain batting in the morning.

My I wish Tony Hutton all the very best as he has not been very well in the last week.It was Tony,s enthusiasm that got be starting taking photographs and blogging.
