LOST AGENDA MATCH

By Brian Sanderson,

On a beautiful Thursday afternoon I thought I would take a trip to Ackwoth. The village is situated between Pontefract, Barnsley and Doncaster on the small river Went. The orgins of the village dates back to 500-600.However today I went to watch Yorkshire over 60,s Second team against Cambridge  and Huntingshire in a forty five over match. Both sides are in the North Group of the 2nd X1 Championship.

Other sides in the group are Essex,Suffolk and Norfolk. At the moment Yorkshire had only played one match and won it  against Norfolk with two matches to be rearranged.Today Yorkshire batted first and put on a opening stand of 87.
The pace of the game is gentle with most of the bowling beening spin which makes it hard to time the bowling. The ground was just recovering from the recent rain and was still damp. After the opening stand Yorkshire lost wickets until a partnership brought it above 200.
It was very pleasent to be in the sunshine and watching people of my age still playing cricket.. One batsman tried to hit the ball but missed it with his bat finishing next to the square leg umpire. Yorkshire after their forty five overs scored 235.

John mention on a previous blog that matches above are not advertised and never easy to find and are known as lost agenda matches. You can see fixture and result on the website Seevent National 60+ @ 70+ County Championships. Hope you go along to  a match and enjoy a match were everbody are enjoying themselves.
