JUST OFF MAID MARION'S WAY

Setting off at 7.40 A.M I picked up Bob Procter at Bardsey and then Brian Workman at Sheffield.We were setting off to Nottingham Sports Ground or it used to be called Boots Ground on which Brian Workman had played cricket.

The ground is next to Nottingham Forest football ground.

The trees were in blossom as shown by the photograph and trees were trying hard to block out the football stadiumThe pavilion needs some care on it and like John,s last blog there was no scorecards.Nottingham were batting after been three wickets down last night chasing Yorkshire score of 255.We sat in a sheltered spot away from the cold breeze and next to be was Joe Root grandfather who had briught Billy Root who was batting for Nottingham.There was a lot off movement of the ball causing Nottingham to be 147 for 6 at lunch with prospects of Yorkshire batting this afternoon.

This was not to be with Adam David Tilcock from Nottingham and Brett Alan Hutton from Doncaster putting on a stand of over170 against some poor Yorkshire bowling.During the afternoon there seem to be no enthusiasm and a lot of short bowling which enabled Tilcock to score a century.At tea the score was 315 for 8.

After tea Nottingham went on to secure over a hundred lead and were able to get the wicket of Tattersall before we left at 6.00P.M. Arriving home at 9.00P.M. over 12 hours of driving and sitting in the sun. We left Nottingham via Maid Marion's Way to the motorway.

Day off tomorrow before Weetwood Friday.
