ANOTHER SUNDAY CUP FINAL
By Brian Sanderson,
On a sunny Sunday morning myself and Bob Proctor had a trip over the Wolds to Driffield were the above match was been played. There was two football matches been played and Christening in the pavilion.Driifield sport ground was full.
We were able to sit behind the bowlers arm in a woodern stand with a excellent view. However York were soon in trouble at 96 for 6.York were without Daniel Wood who was captaining Cheshire and one of the Mc Kendry had been dropped for playing football on Saturday.
It was up to Simon Lambert and Jake Murphy to try and set a total to bowl at.Lambert had played for Yorkshire under 19 and scored 88 and put a partnership of 76. This brought York total to 227 for 9 with Hardgrave bowled his 9 overs for 29 and taking one wicket. At least the price of coffee was fifty pence . Compare that to Headingley prices.
It depended on the first ten overs of the Driffield innings to see how the match would go. After 13 over s Driifield were 91 for 2 . Snell and Richmond bowling was taken apart. One interesting Driffield player was Ben Kohler- Cadmore who plays for Worcester Seconds and his father was walking round in a Worcestershire jacket.
It was left to the Drury family Sam and George to win the match with a stand of 92.George has played for Yorkshire under 16,s.Driffield won in 37 overs and York badly missed Woods bowling.
However it was a sunny day with good company.
