ANOTHER BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE

By Brian Sanderson,

On Tuesday I had a day off from the car and walked to Headingley. The match was Yorkshire Seconds against Nottingham Seconds. It started at 12 o,clock and was forty over match. The players wore white and they bowled with a pink ball.
The first person I meet was Tony Hutton and was surprised to see Ian from Lancaster.
We were joined by Brian Senior and Brian Cobb without Harry. Yorkshire ban dogs from Headingley.

Yorkshire opened the batting with Gary Ballance and Calum Geldart.Ballance jumper has is name with one l and the Nottingham web-site have also spelt it wrong.Against a ordinary attack they put on a stand of 147 in 30 overs. During this time we were joined by David Thorpe who had been to France to watch Rugby League. Just in front of us was Ramon Wilson who was England and Huddersfield full-back. Also a World Cup winner with England .He was there to see his grandson keep wicket for Yorkshire.

Ballance reached his century in 108 balls and was finally out for 129. He batted very well but only start to increase the tempo in the last five overs. Yorkshire reached 231 for 2 which was about 30 runs short of the target they should have achieved.

Nottingham opening batters were Patel and Brown who was soon out.Patel went on to score 50 and was out when the total was 181.Elstone also scored 52 in 44 balls.
The only good bowler was David Wainwright who took three wickets with intelligent bowling however the rest were poor.

Nottingham won the match by seven balls. At this moment no details have appeared on the Yorkshire web-site. Very poor. Both sides move on to Barnsley for a three match Yorkshire will have to improve.
