Big hitting at York
Posted by Brian Sanderson,
On a cloudy and rainy day I sent off for St Peters at York.Arriving at the Senior Schools under 19 against Durham County Board the weather was dry but a cold breeze was blowing.
Yorkshire were batting and there were only two Professional Cricket Watchers ,Malcolm from Whitkirk and David from Brighouse.A young wicket-keeper called Holliday managed to get to fifty. It started to rain heavily and Lunch was taken at twelve -fifty.Brian Senior had arrived.
After lunch David Allen arrived to watch the match. He last played here in 1956 for Clifton School against St. Peters.Yorkshire reached one hundred and five for four when a partnership developed.Walmsley, who plays for Cleckheaton and lad from Brighouse. They both reached their fifty and put on a stand of one hundred and twenty.
A big lad from Pudsey Congs hit a number of six,s to bring the score up to two hundred and ninety- five in fifty overs. A good score in cold wind.
Next game is Rugby League to-night.
