Wilfred's  final first class match was at the 50th anniversary of the Scarborough Cricket Festival. In 1899 Wilfred took nine wickets for twenty four against the Australians and in 1901 he scored his first century for Yorkshire at the North Marine Road ground.  So it was fitting that his last first class match was against the Australians whilst playing for H.D.G.Leveson -Gower's X1 on the 10th of September 1930. One the umpires was David Denton ,who was a Yorkshire players who Wilfred had played with in 1899.

On the first day the match did not start until 2:00 due to rain. The English side scored 218 for 9 with Wilfred batting an hour for 16 not out.On the second day play did not start until 3:00 again because of
rain. The English side declared at the over night total and Australia with Bradman and Kippax finished the day at 163 for 2.

On the third day Australia were all out for 238 with McCabe reaching1000 runs for the season. Wilfred bowled thirty overs for sixty nine runs and took five wickets at fifty three years young. Leveson Gower's XI  batted again to reach 247 all out with Wilfred bowled out by Kippax for three runs so the match finished as a draw.

Wilfred finished having scored 39969 runs and taken 4204 wickets. He played 1110 matches from 1898 to 1930
