After a series of technical problems it is with great relief that I welcome readers to our new blog title.
A special welcome to Mike Latham who has already posted the very first blog of our new series with a look back at county cricket in Lytham in 1985. Our new recruit has certainly got off to a good start. I hope you are not puzzled by the picture at the top of each blog which is really to emphasise our coverage of cricket at all levels in the north of England. The picture you will now see on a regular basis is of the cricket ground at Sedbergh School in Cumbria.
Originally Sedbergh was in the West Riding of Yorkshire until local government boundary changes. It is now in Cumbria but has also been used as a home ground by Lancashire county cricket club. The school also has strong links with Durham County Cricket as Martin Speight the former Durham player is currently the school's cricket coach.
It therefore seems fitting to have a picture of this ground as our masthead, without giving favour to any of the other counties of the north of England.
